Reviews
Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for the Wildlife Photographer The Vertex 300 AW is awesome for the travelling wildlife or in my case bird photographer. It is airline cabin friendly. I always have it as my carry on piece. I have travelled with it to Europe, Namibia, Bahamas and New Zealand. It fits two camera bodies a 500mm lens, 400 f5.6, 70-200 f4 10-20mm, extenders and my mac book and all the electronic paraphernalia which accompanies them. It is comfortable to carry with a good waist belt and in a light shower one can stretch over the waterproof cover quickly. A tripod can be attached easily. If I go abroad I wouldn't be without it. Rated 5 out of 5 by Takes all your gear & very comfortable My main priority was to find the largest bag that could be taken as hand luggage on the low-cost UK airlines. This bag 'just' manages to be classed as hand luggage whilst carrying all my equipment. A very important plus point for me! The zips are well made as they are designed to keep the water out. It's an obvious statement, but the bigger the bag, the more equipment you're likely to load up - therefore, the heavier the bag. However, the shoulder straps are well padded, the waist band helps direct the weight off your shoulders and onto your hips and the chest clip helps to stabilise the rucksack. With all the various zips on this product, one suggestion to Lowepro is to colour-code the zips as you'll find that you'll be zipping/un-zipping unnecessary compartments at 5am waisting valuable time photographing that sunrise at f/11. I've added my own coulred tags as a workaround. The bag has internal pockets for various sized circular filters, although it does struggle to hold my 82mm polariser filter. Overall though, I'm delighted to own this rucksack, knowing that it'll grow with me as I add even more equipment. April 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Roomy and comfortable You have room to carry almost any photo gear in this backpack: you have pockets for memory cards, batteries, all kinds of wires, lens, gloves, camera body, and many more. The only drawback of this unit is the tripod mount, which is too small. I could hardly fit two legs of my former tripod and only one of my new one. Not the best design. March 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Backpack! I purchased the Vertex 300 mainly to use as a camera bag for keeping everything in one place, not to use for hiking. Although I have to say the shoulder straps and hipbelt are very comfortable. The zip up panel to hide the straps is a brilliant idea! I had originally purchased a Tamrac Expedition 7X sight unseen on eBay. The straps and hipbelt are HUGE on this pack! There was no way to store or remove them, so I sold it on Craigslist and ordered the Lowepro. I couldn't be happier! The vertex 300 has a much cleaner look than the Tamrac Expedition packs. Lowepro has made this pack very streamlined and professional looking. This was not my first lowepro camera bag, and definitely won't be my last. I have no idea why I strayed from the best to begin with. It won't happen again! Thanks. February 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic camera storage and transport For me this bag has two purposes, when not in use my gear is safely stored in the bag but ready to go at a moments notice. I usually keep the straps covered up and use the top handle to move the bag from my office to my car, not having the straps flapping around makes this much easier. When I do need to use the bag as a back pack it works really well and is very comfortable. November 7, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by A great companion in the city and travel It's a great backpack, spacious and practical, the cover for the shoulder straps is very useful for air travel, which prevents the handles always fasten the seat backs. How have some negative point: 1) I'm tall, I have one meter and 88 centimeters, for me the shoulder straps are a bit short and become a little uncomfortable, the handle of the chest is very close to the neck, this already with the lowest setting there. 2) The vedaçõs rubber that is in the zip wears out very fast. For me solving these two items and adding a space for a bag of water she would be a perfect backpack November 6, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful bag! This camera bag / backpack is the best I've owned, by far! Great quality in almost every department (especially the zips) and the gear fits great, with plenty of options to personalise - a big plus. The ONLY negative I have is that the rain cover needs to be redesigned in terms of material. I have used it on multiple occasions and for the first 5 or 6 rainfalls everything stays dry but after that it starts letting you down with moisture and wetness getting through to the surfaces (but never into the main compartment thankfully!). Lowepro, can you / have you do / done something about this? I would order a new cover if you have. Thanks, Steve, South Africa. September 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Like the first day! Hi Guys, it is now over 12 years with my Photo Trekker Classic. An extraordinary backpack that followed me in all my photo adventures. It sailed on the best classic boats in the mediterranean sea, on board of Helena, Stella Polare, Orianda and on some of the best sailing yachts ever. It was flooding in the dirty, wet and salty floor of the worst rubber dinghy I cruised to follow my passion for photographic sailing adventures, tacking care of my precious camera, lenses and mac. My daughters call it "the big brother" as it is always with us traveling the world up and down. Hi my big "Lowe", I love you. Greetings from Italy and best wishes for the coming festivities PC December 7, 2013

Vertex 300 AW Tripod mount

I've lost the tripod mount for my Lowepro Vertex 300 AW. Is it possible to buy this? I've heard with some of the suppliers here in Norway, but none of them could help...
I hope you can help me, as the Vertex 300 AW is the best backpack I've ever had, and don't want to buy a new one, just because of the lack of the tripod mount.

Regards Frank

Question about the shoulder strap cover...

Hi,

I recently bought this bag from Dubai airport and came onto your website to see if there was anything I had overlooked with it.

It's an awesome bag but wanted to ask about the shoulder strap cover as shown in the pictures. Mine doesn't have one. I guess I bought an older model?

Cheers

Answer:
The cover you are referring to is actually sewn into the bag during manufacturing. You can find it tucked away next to the All Weather Cover.
