Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the Portable Traveler Aloha nui friends! I wanted to share with you what I carry on my photography adventures. I carry Lowepro 300 Flipside with an assortment of goodies in my bag. The Flipside is an awesome bag which lets me store my lightweight travel tripod on the outside tripod lip. The side pocket allows me to put pens, business cards, and memory cards if I need them too. Inside my Flipside there's a document pouch that holds any releases or camera books I need. As you can see from my camera phone photo. The two versatile lenses I live by are the 18-55mm and 55-300mm VR Nikon DX lenses. They allow me to shoot from 18mm for ultrawide shots to long distance with the 300mm. There are plenty of compartments for each of my lenses, a few filters(polarized and UV) and a blower. The big pouch houses my cleaning supplies(salt water always gets on my lenses), first aid(I travel on a lot of lava rock/coral) and other small items. 4/5 for gear because if you add a external battery pack to your D7000 it will fit but it will stick out slightly. Not enough to cause any discomfort though. Overall, it a great light weight bag with plenty of compartments and inside is easy to customize for the daily adventurists. PROS: - many compartments - slightly water resistant(small rain) - stores big cameras without battery pack - stores up to 3 lenses(1 tele and 2 smaller), a camera, a flash, filters, and lots more for the little pockets - good price - soft padding(excellent for those jumps and climbs) CONs: - not fully water resistant and no raincoat - won't fit camera with external battery pack comfortably Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Security and Comfort I purchased this bag because I've had other Lowepro products before and knew I'd be getting a quality product - but my primary concern was security of my camera and lenses in crowded environments. I've traveled internationally and domestically and I've seen co-travelers lose valuable pieces of equipment in these environments. Knowing that my equipment was safe unless I removed the bag from my back was an important consideration. I've had this bag for over two years now and it has been a comfortable way to transport my equipment. It has held up extremely well - it still looks almost new. Have I had any issues? Not really - the only thing this bag is missing is the rain cover available on the larger versions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag Great for event/travel photgraphers the bag fits right into a small locker. It's very compact with the adjustable compartments you can put a lot of your gear in even a drinkbottle on the side except a laptop. It's a good travelbag and your gear is save because it opens in the back so nobody can steal something out of it. The badside of this is if the back is open gear can fall out if somebody else pickup your bag and don't know the opening is in the back. You can put a tripod or monopod on the bag only if the tripod is heavy its gonna pull on the strap attached, you cannot strap it tightly to the bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compactly Holds Nikon D800 w/ Attached 70-200 f/2.8 Plus Plenty More The Flipside 300 easily holds my D800 w/ an attached 70-200 f/2.8 lens. Additionally, the bag accommodates my 24-120 f/4, my SB-800 flash, the large hoods for the two lenses, as well as assorted paraphernalia. The bag is comfortable to wear despite the aggregate weight of the equipment. The all-black version does not attract undue attention. The "backside" zipper access gives me comfort that my equipment is secure. The only downside is the lack of an all-weather cover.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, excellent. I've had this bag a couple of years already and its performed quite well. Of course, loaded with gear it can get rather heavy. The best feature by far is that you don't have to worry about someone from behind sneaking into the bag since it opens from the side against your back. Using the belt harnesses and moving the bag around to one's front takes a little practice, but you'll have a pretty sturdy platform to change a filter or a lens. The only thing the bag is missing- and its the reason I left off the last star, is like most camera bags, there is only room for camera equipment. If you have a laptop, tablet, or for that matter, almost anything else, there really won't be room in this bag for it. I'd still recommend it though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only for small tripod I am an enthusiast photographer. I do frequent Street and short treckings. I own a Nikon 750 with a 28-300 lens plus an 85mm or the 14-24mm. My usual load depending on my assignment for the day is the camera body and two of the above mentioned lens. So far so good. I carry a small flashligh, a cord remote control, my large Nokia phone, wallet and so on...For all this, the bag falls short of expectations. Forget about a windbreaker! And, for sure, my Traveler II tripod is way too large and heavy for this backpack. I strongly recommend this backpack however, I feel I have outgrown it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bag serve me excellent!!! Before I purchase Flipside 300, I do research and study other camera bag. Finally I bought this bag is because of, I am traveling often, with the zipless at the front of the bag, and the main access point is on my back, which does increase more security to my precious gear, with this bag, I no need to worry the bag on my back. Thumb up!! Another feature that I love so much is the unique on-body access method that gives a nice platform from which to work. How does it work? Getting the bag off your shoulders and into working position is easy: fasten the waist belt, slip the bag off your shoulders, and rotate it around until it's in front of you. Supported by the belt, the bag flips down until its flat base rests against your leg. Unzip the access panel and you're ready to shoot. The two main features that I love the most have been listed above, however, other than that, this bag also providing a large spaces for me to put in my DSLR camera, a 105mm micro lens, a 35mm lens, a 11-16 lens, an external flash, shutter remote control. It also providing special space to store my precious memory card and easy to get with. A special holding to put on my tripod as well. Conclusion, I really love this bag so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very comfortable bag Great bag, holds all my gear, good level of protection and very comfortable even with tripod for long day. Lots of pockets to keep things safe and organized. The bag in the interior keeps smaller items like filters and lens cleaning products from rolling around. Works well for me when doing landscape photos and car shows.

Lens capacity

In the product description, you state: Pro DSLR with lens attached (up to 300mm f/2.8), 1-3 extra lenses or 2 lenses and a flash, Accessories, Tripod, Personal items Yet in the answer to one of the questions asked (Airline Compatibility), your reply states max lens size is a 70-200 f/2.8. Which is it? I need a bag for a 300 2.8 and would like as small a bag as possible. Thanks.
Asked by: Paul2
It will fit, but only if you remove compartments. Try it in the shop first.

I have a Canon 7d and Canon 400 mm telephoto that measures 13.5 inches long. Would it fit in a 300 Flipside? How deep is the accessory pouch at the top of the bag? Thanks for your help.

Asked by: Chuck
Hello, For your specific lens, we would recommend the large Flipside 400. It will technically fit in the interior however you would need to remove the accessory pouch.

The flipside 300 says it is water resistant but what exactly does that mean? Can I be in the rain with it and how long before it leaks?

Asked by: DWSack
Hello, The materials on the Flipside 300 help to prevent water from entering the bag, if you are in need of additional weather protection, we would recommend you take a look at our products with "All Weather AW Covers" such as the Flipside Sport 15L; http://store.lowepro.com/flipside-sport-15l-aw Or if you need a fully waterproof solution, you should check our DryZone series: http://store.lowepro.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=dryzone

What is the maximum weight/size of a tripod that can be used on the bags tripod holder.

Asked by: Jam51
Hello, We would recommend using a tripod with a collapsed sized of approx. 28" or 71cm. Weight will not be an issue as long as it's a typical tripod that is being carried.

Will my camera fit

In the description where you can see all flip side backpacks side by side it says the Flipside 300 fits an attached 300 mm lens, but in dimensions specifications it says it fits an attached 200 mm lens. So will my 300 mm lens fit? Thanks!
Asked by: Gilla
Hello Gilla, Thanks for pointing this out. If you need to fit a 300mm 2.8 lens, you would need our Flipside 400 AW: http://store.lowepro.com/flipside-400-aw
