Photo Sport BP 300 II AW is designed to protect your photo gear in the UltraCinch™ chamber, and all of your journey's essentials in the open space.

  • Keep your camera gear secure and in place while you hike, bike, climb, snowboard or run. Our new UltraCinch design features a custom pull-tab to cinch and tighten photo gear space in one swift action for bounce-free protection.
  • Feel good as you move with your pack; the ActivZone™ harness is built to provide targeted comfort for active shooters.
  • Protect your gear from the elements. A built-in All Weather AW Cover™ safeguards photo and personal gear from rain, snow, dust and sand.
  • A roomy, toploading compartment is built to store a day's worth of creature comforts.
  • Multiple attachment points allow you to secure extra gear to the pack, such as a tripod or trekking poles.
  • The front pocket accommodates a bike helmet, light jacket, gloves, etc..
  • A stabilizing waist strap includes two zippered side pockets for quick grab items.
  • Get extra comfort and a custom fit with padded waistbelt and adjustable shoulder straps and sternum strap.
  • Keep hydrated with a 2-liter Camelbak® or Platypus® reservoir (not included) placed in the dedicated hydration pocket. It includes quick-release buckles and internal routing for easy access.
  • Lightweight and resilient tech fabrics include ultra-tear-strength coating for high performance.
Photo Sport BP 300 AW II is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Pack with a Price Tag too high The bag is relatively durable and fits either my DSLR or 35mm SLR nicely, a rain jacket and a few other items. The water bottle holder on the side is rather frustrating, as fitting a 1L Nalgene (very common water bottle) in is a tight squeeze. The hydration pocket is also another feature that needs work, as a filled hydration bladder causes the pack to bulge uncomfortably into your back. I bought this pack for light mountain hiking day trips and it fits the bill, but I feel like a non-camera daypack with a camera case would work better for a lower price tag and yet still maintain all the features of the PhotoSport II.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Still not perfect. In general it's a great backpack, but it has some disadvantages... 1. The back tends to collapse, since the back is not stiff enough. This gives me more pressure on my lower back. 2. It is extremely hot to wear. Don't know why Lowe don't combine it with Lowe Alpline (with airzone) - that would solve both the collapse above and the warm back. 3. Pocket in the belt is way to small - can't fit an iPhone - again the Lowe Alpine has bigger pockets and easily fits an iPhone. Hope Lowe will fix my suggestions above in a forthcoming "300 AW III" ;)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the predecessor. I have the previous model of this Photosport pack And have given it a real pounding over many rough walks in the Blue Mountains (Australia). I also have the latest version as the grey pack is a bit tattered. I have lost more bits in a few walks than I have in years. Eye-cups, lens caps etc. Stuff just falls out of this pack. It is too small for a Nikon DSLR with just abut any lens. With some wet weather gear and an extra lens the pack turns into a barrel. Too narrow, hot. A real shame as it looks great and is well made.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect! I bought this bag a few days before a trip to Yellowstone National Park, and I am so glad I did. I shoot with a Canon 7D Mark II which fit (without the battery grip which isn't a deal breaker for me) in the quick access pocket. As someone who digs around for stuff in my bags, this side pocket/case area was perfect for me. The rain cover releases and covers easily, and I was able to fit an 18-135mm lens on the camera, as well as a small 10-18mm in the side area, as well as a 150-600mm sigma in the outer middle pocket. (A bit tight but it worked). Straps distribute the weight wonderfully. I was a bit worried about putting a camelbak bladder in the small compartment but it worked fine all week so just make sure your water doesn't leak before you stuff it in... Goodluck!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for Hiking! I bought this for day hiking for Colorado and it was great! I fit my camera, extra lens, and tripod on the side. The top part of bag has plenty of space and i was able to accommodate some other personal items. i recently took this bag as a carryon for a trip to Mexico and it was perfect. i fit so much, but it didn't look like it, so it's airport friendly. I like the side compartment for the camera, but it is still takes some work to get your camera. that's my only downside - not best for quick access.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT BAG FOR HIKING I got this bag for my 10 Day trip through the Southern Island of New Zealand. I packed so much gear in it & the bag still didn't hurt my back like others would. Also, there are 2 different options for me to place my 15 inch laptop at. Not to mention, I think it looks great too. Would highly recommend this bag to anyone who hikes and travels!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for rugged day hikes The new Photo Sport BP 300 AW II has a streamlined design that's great for serious day hikers. The pack is narrow enough to get through tight places, and is ideal for off-trail bushwhacking hikes. The fact that this is a hybrid camera bag/day hiking pack is what sold me in the first place when I bought the original Photo Sport BP 200 AW (now discontinued). The upgraded new model continues to combine my needs as a day hiking photographer with cargo space for food, extra clothing, and even a first aid kit; plus a hydration pocket for a 3-liter Camelbak system; and a dual compartment for my Canon 5D Mark III mounted with a 24-105mm lens, and space for my 16-35mm or up to a medium-sized telephoto. I strap a Gitzo GT2541 Mountaineer tripod on the side opposite the camera compartment, but it is a bit more weight than this pack is designed for. I am so glad Lowepro designed a hybrid pack like this. Maybe they will add a lighter color such as khaki for those of us who hike in the desert. In the meantime, this pack is great for the places I go hiking.

Hi, does this backpack have straps underneath where you could strap a jumper or jacket to the bag? And if so, could you use these straps to carry a tripod? Thanks

Asked by: Jacqui
The Photo Sport BP 300 AW II does not have straps on the bottom, but does have straps on the side that could be used for this purpose. They can also be used to carry a compact or small tripod. The top of the bag folds over the top pocket which has plenty of space for a jacket and snaps into place. You could also secure a tripod in this manner though it may cause an odd weight distribution through the bag.

Is there a place to carry a tripod or mono-pod on the backpack?

Asked by: woolverton7
You can carry a compact tripod with this bag. Something like a GorillPod will fit in the side pocket or top pocket. Depending on what compact tripod you have you can attach it to the side opposite the pocket with straps or across the top using the top "flap" and the clips to secure it. Using the top may create an odd weight balance or decrease the weather resistance of the pack.

Would you consider this bag carry-on friendly?  The baggage requirements on my up-coming flight are; One carry-on bag no more than 45 linear inches or 114 linear centimeters (L + W + H) or 14 inches x 9 inches x 22 inches (23 x 35 x 56 cm)

Asked by: Exposure Studio
The external dimensions of this bag are 27 x 24 x 56 cm (10.63 x 9.45 x 22.05 in). This is width x depth x height, on our measurements we consider width to be parallel to the Lowepro logo while height is perpendicular. Depth is measured from the back (the side that rest on your back) to front (the side that has the logo).

Hi. Acc. to specs the orig. photosport 200 has larger internal dimensions than this 300 II. I assume these mean size of camera compartment. How then are you able to fit a 70-200 lens in the new 300 aw II when you did not recommend it in the orig. 200 aw?

Asked by: McKay
I'll answer this myself. It seems the specs between the old 200 and this new 300 II are now almost identical (internal compartment.) Have you changed the specs? Or maybe I just misread something the first time.

Can I use this as a carry-on on most carriers?

Asked by: ED1978
We have carried this ourselves onto a few major airlines, however we'd suggest checking the guidelines of your preferred airline as they all differ on size requirements.
