Reviews
Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Going Lo Profile w/Lowepro Pro Messenger 160 AW For several years, I have worked out of a rucksack style camera bag. For travel by plane, it's been practical and protected my camera gear well. However for around town/local photography projects, it's been cumbersome to maneuver my camera & attached lens in and out of this bag. I researched new options & narrowed my search down to two messenger style camera bags which included Lowepro's Pro Messenger. The Lowepro Pro Messenger 160 AW has well thought out features like an inconspicuous look that discretely blends into any setting, easy in/easy out flapped messenger bag form factor, more-than-adequate padding and adjustable dividers to protect expensive camera gear, and a rugged soft-sided vintage canvas-style tech material. Ultimately, I chose the Lowepro Pro Messenger 160 AW based on its size specs which fits my camera gear comfortably, appealing yet subtle grey/green (slate) color, tone-on-tone logo positioned towards body further concealing bag contents, and dual flap closure design - velcro or magnet closure - to facilitate access while on the go. This bag is a winner and has met all of my expectations. It handles and stages my camera gear in an efficient and well thought out manner. In the main compartment, I can carry a 70-200mm f/2.8L lens (hood attached inverted), dslr w/24-70mm attached (hood attached inverted), & flash unit. Everything is easy to retrieve. In addition, the outer pocket is well suited for small accessory items like filters, xtra batteries, journal, keys, iPod touch, etc. The Pro Messenger also has a built-in "rain coat". To deploy, simply release velcro bottom, pull "rain coat out, and pullover. Voila... Pro Messenger protected from the elements. The Lowepro Pro Messenger commands a premium price. Upon my actual field use, the features, design, benefits and overall quality makes this camera bag a must have that will last a long time. In my book, this product is a very good value. Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for keeping things accessible I also have the Lowepro Slingshot 110 AW, which I generally found to be pretty good quality, but my problem with it was always that it was a bit of a pain to get things in and out of it. I wanted a toploading case, which would hang by my side and be easy enough to open that I could change gear quickly, but retain security. This bag is perfect for that. Also, don't entirely believe their recommendations about how much stuff fits in these bags - obviously, depending on the nature of your gear, you can get a lot more in there. The bag is very comfortable, mainly because of the padding on the shoulder strap, which is the thickest I've ever seen, and NEVER slips. The materials it's made of seem pretty tough - I also like that it's made out of a cotton-like greenish-black material, rather than the usual black nylon. I don't totally agree that the bag makes your camera-carrying covert, as it does really look like a camera bag, but at least it will instill in your enemies a deep sense of gear lust. The first one I picked up had a stitching problem on the bottom - the seams were coming unraveled. Noticed this quickly, and got an immediate exchange from Henry's. Not to worry, it's got a lifetime warranty from Lowepro, but make sure you check, as with anything made of cloth. The silent closure + velcro closure system is really good. Plus there are multiple magnets at different heights in the front panel, so it's not like when you load it up it doesn't close quietly anymore. Cons-wise.... not too much to speak of. I suppose I would like it to have some sort of protected bottom, for when I set it down in the dirt, and it does cost a pretty penny (then again, with cameras, what doesn't?). Overall, I highly recommend this bag - honestly it would be good even without a camera in it. September 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Bag for Bag People I bought my first camera bag over 20 years ago. It was a Lowepro I used to tote around my Canon Elan IIe. I still have the bag and the camera and both are in excellent condition. As a long-time Lowepro owner, I couldn't resist choosing the Lowepro LP36406 to review. I am happy to report that Lowepro actually appears to have improved the quality of their bags. At least that's my impression based on the LP36406. The bag is comfortable to carry, has great fit and finish, is durable (strong stitching) and has room for my DSLR, two lenses, and a flash. There are a number of small pockets and compartments where I can store my Lenspen, batteries, cables, a charger, etc. This bag does just what it is supposed to do and it does it well. It cushions and protect my camera and accessories like a good bag should. The question you have to ask, though, is whether or not you want a pack or a bag. Having tried both this bag and the Lowepro LP36434-PWW Photo Hatchback 22L AW (Slate Grey) I can say I prefer the pack. However, it is a bit more difficult to get a camera out of the pack than this bag. But the pack seems to hold more and I have less fear of setting it down only to wander off after a shot without realizing I don't have the bag anymore. So, if you're a bag person. this durable, well padded, roomy (but not huge) bag will likely serve you well. September 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great looking bag The bag is well made and very comfortable. Has a sort of retro military look which I like. A 140AW version would be good for someone just wanting to carry the camera. I use my bag to carry the camera as well as my gear for EMS flying, a portable Garmin GPS and my pilot's license etc. I don't understand the flap design as in order to use the velcro, the flap hangs below the bag unless you have a long lens stowed vertically in the bag. A velcro system like the Crumpler 5 Million Dollar would have worked better. I ended up cutting the magnetic flap off with a razor blade. It also allows you to pull the flap down tighter reducing the profile of the bag. The internal side pockets are frustrating to use with the small velcro strap. An elasticated system would be easier. Answer:
It doesn't fit with the 70-200 2.8mm attached, but it will fit with the 70-200 2.8mm lens off the camera.

If you step up to the Pro Messenger 200, that will allow you to fit your 5D Mark II with 70-200 2.8 attached in it.

size fit of Fuji XT1+extra Grip assembled

Wanted to know if it Will it fit a full XT1 with its battery grip and the kit given lens, while still having the front free space and the lens compartment on the sides for a bigger zoom and a Flash etc....
Since the XT1 is smaller than a normal DSLR, it left me wondering.

Thanks a lot
