Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bag in my arsenal since 2006. It is the Best! This bag in my arsenal since 2006. S400AW has been absolutely essential in any season, and was used in at least 95% exits beyond home before this year. Ergonomics of all LowePro products is out comments. So first of all I would like to mention the perfect wearability. Bag in excellent condition. The optimum volume: two cameras: 1D & 5D, 3 lens, including 200-400, minitripod, accessories. Very handy inside pocket for documents and money. Super bag! I will write about the two problems. Broken buckle. Similar happened to bag 600 AW. I cann`t find the original buckle. Some authors report that the problem is probably with the peculiarities of the climate in Russia. Severe changes in temperature. I do not think that this is so. So winter weather is in the Alps, Scandinavia or the same. Second situation is connected with my health. Very strong inflamation on forearms when skin contact with nylon above 30°C heat. And long sleeve are not good always in such temperatures. The bag is well protected against water and dust. Rainfall and desert storm of course already demanded the use of the cover.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Bag for lightweight gear Hello, this bag is very good if you are using one ProDSLR with some lenses. I use it with one 5D Mark II 50mm, 15mm fisheye, 70-200 4.0 and a 24-70 2.8 And also a 580 EX II This all fits perfect in it. The small pockets are perfect for paper, filter and extra battery. What i realy like about it is the sliplock system. My rental service gives out lenses with the lensecases from lowepro. So i can easily attach them to my bag and i dont' t have the rearrange everything in my bag. Overall yes. this is a very good bag i recommend. Andy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic camera bag! This is my favourite camera bag of all! I have been using it for 2 years and I can rate it as: "Perfect all-around camera bag that fits all you can carry on your shoulders" I have loaded it with 3 DSLRs (Canon 5Dmk2+24-70, Canon 7D+17-50,Canon 1000D+18-55) + Canon 580EX flash + 0.5 cognac + 6 mobile phones + documents & acessories and it seemed to have some more space left. I definetly recommend it for everybody who ask me about big camera bag for their gear What I like: - Build quality - reliable, heavy lifting! - Materials quality - Contstruction. It has sooo many cool features! - Fast camera acess on top - Waterproof cover - Strong and reliable straps and metal rings for them. I even managed to fit 2 straps and carry it on 2 shoulders - Interior in general - Size What I don't like: - This could be a nightmare carrying it loaded for whole day

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bag with lots of room a few years ago I purchased the D350 AW model and have been using it arround the world on my travels. (still using it when i dont need all my gear). this bag is no different, it is ruggedly built and has a lot of inside room. I love the upper zipper allowing fast access to gear while on the roads. It also has an inside zippered back pocket that can hold your passports and other valluables to avoid pickpockets. main gear I fit in: Canon 5DMIII w/grip or 7D w/grip (not both) Canon 24-70/2.8L II Canon 70-200/4L IS Canon 17-40/4L Canon 100/2.8L IS Macro Sigma 35/1.4 HSM Canon Speedlite 580EX II in this configuration I do not use the accesories pouch included but only the memory cards wallet and some filters. on another configuration (when shooting weddings) i use it it for flashes and it fits 6 flashes in their pouches + cables + 6 diffusers + spare batteries and other misc stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pro Bag This is definately one of Lowepro's Pro bag's. If you look any of the stealth reporter bags, Im sure you'd agree. This review could easily for any size bag in this series. The weather sealed zip on the top is great for quicker access to your equipment. Larger DSLR's (dslr's with grips or 1d/d3 series and L brackets for instance) will take a little longer to get out but its hugely quicker using this method than having to unzip the whole top flap. The bag has great padding just like every lowepro, which is why I exclusively use them over any other brand. This is one of 4 now and a welcome addition. This bag, or any in the stealth reporter series are made for photojournalists. But that said, they could be used by anyone, particularly those who may need faster access to gear at any given moment hence the top zip concept, but also the strong materials used in these bags. The compartments in the very front for notebooks, pens, odds and ends is very nice and very useful too. The back compartment/sleeve unzips at the bottom to slip over the long handles on wheeled luggage too. A handy feature to those who ever travel. One of the only down points in a way is that the rain cover prevents you from access to the bag if you need to put it on. But that said, I use the rain coat (all weather cover) only in emergencies if I get caught in a major rain storm. Which is when the equipment hides away anyway 98% of the time. Light rain... I don't worry which is most often. I haven't personally used the AW cover much but It's a very good cover if you have to use it. Other than it makes the equipment not really accessible, Im impressed. It does seal it up from the elements very well. The D400 aw bag I own can get quite heavy over time when fully loaded, or even 3/4 loaded which mine usually is. The larger bags fit laptops which mine doesn't. But unless your very used to a large weight off your shoulder, or crossing from side of your body, you will feel it. The Shoulder straps are great, but there's no denying the weight that can easily build. I have to say though, that if you need to carry a laptop, at least Lowepro make these bags in bigger variants to carry them. Because again, they're great bags. The d400 aw size to me is a good size. No laptop, but its not too big and not too small. Excellent bag all round. The only tough choice is deciding which size is best for you.

Question & Answer

Are the dimensions identical to the older Reporter 400AW (I bought it in the US in 2002 or 2003)? The latter one is very used, but I recently bought a Nova 5 and was disappointed that it has an unsufficient height to contain correctly my MacBookPro 15".
