Reviews
Flipside Trek BP 450 AW is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's got a design flaw....... They so nearly got it right, but failed at the last hurdle. Yes you can cram everything in for a days hiking and photography....BUT, when you do cram everything in, and flip it over to use (it's a Flipside !), you can take the camera out to use ok, BUT, it's almost impossible to get the camera back in, unless you lay the backpack on the floor, which defeats the purpose. The camera housing module is too flimsy and collapses under the weight of the backpack with everything in it, especially if you tie a tripod the to side of the bag. Make that module more rigid and hey !, you have a winner !. Other than that, it's a nice bag, just don't load it up like the adverts show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit for my Outdoor Adventures This bag goes everywhere with me and carries all my camera essentials when I'm out camping, paddling, hiking, or skiing. It's big enough to fit the multiple lenses I have, along with a few other accessories and some additional gear/layers. I've been very pleased with it during the duration of time I've had to be able to put it to the test in different activities and weather conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I need! I use this backpack for two weeks now and it suits me fine. Plenty of room for my camera- and outdoorgear. For comfortable walking I carry my tripod on the front panel (better balance!). I use it mainly for daily nature walks. Another advantage is the green color, which provides a good camouflage. All in all I am very satisfied with this backpack :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for I received this for a gift. It holds all of my equipment and gear. The one thing that frustrated me is the water. It's awesome for a water section however, on my hiking trips I go through a bottle of water super fast. It has plenty of storage. Definitely a day bag but holds all of my equipment all the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag, but would like more pockets I really like my Flipside Trek BP 450 AW. It is a quality bag. I just wish there were more compartments for all of my accessories. I would have given the bag 5 stars if there was more room for all of my stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable until the end The best backpack at a low price, with which I can reach the farthest places walking. The ideal size for not being able to wear and carry the equipment, such as my Nikon 70 200, Nikon 14 24 and 24 70

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good color. I bought this bag from a local store for day trips with a Mavic Pro and E-M1 II 12-40. I had tried among 250, 350 and 450. 250 is too small to fit, 350 perfectly fits these two machines but no enough room for other accessories. Finally decided to have the largest 450 since it has a plenty room for my rest gadgets. I had traveled to Japan with the sets shown in the uploaded photo. I was walking in the rain for two days. Everything is fine. My body said no any uncomfortable feelings. Good: * The bag's color scheme is proper for traveling. It's not so urban-style and also not so mountain-style. * Useful straps around the bag and all can fixed when not in use. So you don't have to worry about they to bother others when boarding the plane. * Large room for personal items at the top. Notes: * When flipping, try to open just half of the backside. That will make you zip back more easily than full-opened. * Since 450 has a deep depth inside the backpack, if you are bringing a mirrorless system. You can put more dividers horizontally to stack more gadgets. It's a good bag however I would like to see a side-opening and better dividers for small gadgets. Also it would be better if the weight could be reduced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall, a solid well-made backpack This is a quality made backpack. I have researched and tested a few other backpacks and decided to purchase this one for day hikes and around-town adventures. I have only had it for a few weeks, but so far it’s a great purchase. It comfortably holds my Canon 5D Mark III with an attached 70-200mm telephoto lens with plenty of room for a 24-70mm and additional wide or small prime lens as well as all the usual gear accessories. I am 6 feet 4 inches tall so finding a backup that is not too big (i.e. suitcase) or too small (i.e. rubbing against my mid back) is crucial. The 450 model fits just perfectly. I have ventured out with it on my back for a few hours at a time and it’s been comfortable to wear. From a look and styling perspective, I really like it. It has a nice functional design, the light gray/green colors are very appealing, and it does not look like your traditional camera backpack. Some critical observations: Although I generally take my backpack off to access my gear, swap lenses, etc. I did find the flipside access convenient and it provides a level of protection for accessing gear. I am able to rotate the backpack to access gear without much difficulty, however, once holding a camera in one hand I find it more challenging to zipper the backpack (since gravity tends to warp the backpack a bit). Also rotating the backpack to my back hasn’t been as smooth as I thought it would be without struggling a bit and loosening the waist belt. Would like to know others opinion on this. For the tripod carriers, my tripod of choice is 7-8lbs (not a small compact travel sized one) and when I attached it to the front of the backpack it does shift the weight distribution enough to make long journeys uncomfortable. This isn’t a game changer for me since I knew that this backpack was advertised to hold compact travel sized tripods, but just putting it out there for anyone else who might be considering this configuration. Overall, this is an excellent backpack and I would recommend it.

Question & Answer

The Nikkor 200-500 has been asked about a few times before, but the dimensions suggest that it could fit in the bag as long as it's not attached to a camera. Is that true? If so, would it be possible to fit a body with a smaller lens attached in as well?

Asked by: Fractalis
I don't believe there would be room for the additional body with attached lens.
